Holiday traditions do not just happen at home. From tree lightings to a 5K run and from people and pet pics with Santa to Christmas Town at Cowabunga Bay, Henderson offers opportunities for everyone – residents and visitors alike – to come together this holiday season. And most of these activities are low or no cost and open to all ages.

Here’s a roundup of Henderson 2018 holiday fun!

Visit the Chocolate Wonderland at Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden and delight in the beauty of more than half a million twinkling Christmas lights draped over three acres of cactus. (See image above.) Then head inside to the chocolate factory where kids will enjoy not only watching their favorite treat being made, but will also see various chocolate houses and sculptures that look too good to eat. Christmas Town at Cowabunga Bay Water Park is a thrilling holiday attraction; the entire park will be filled with holiday decorations, spectacular lights and displays, family winter activities, and tasty holiday food and drink for kids and adults. Activities include Nick's Lighting Spectacular with over 3 million twinkling lights, Under the Mistletoe Ice Skating Rink, Polar Express and Tiny Tim train rides, and the “Let It Snow” Spectacular. Admission is $25; once inside, all activities are free except paintball. Children under 2 are free. WinterFest

Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St. 
WinterFest, Henderson’s annual holiday event, offers two days of “North Pole Adventures” to all who attend. The fun begins on December 7 at 6pm, with the official tree-lighting ceremony on the Events Plaza led by Santa and Mayor Debra March, and followed by fireworks. The festival continues until 9pm and includes a variety of family-friendly activities: 
     JingleFest Gift & Craft Fair
     Mail a Letter to Santa
     Decorate Cookies in Mrs. Claus’s Bakery
     Reindeer Games
     Build a Toy in Santa’s Workshop
     Gingerbread House Contest
     Entertainment and food vendors

All of the festival fun returns the next day, plus the WinterFest Evening Light Parade, which starts at 5 p.m. along Water Street, and features more than 60 entries reflecting this year’s theme “North Pole Adventures.”

Make a dash to Pittman Wash Trail this winter for a jolly good time. Participants are encouraged to don their most cheerful costumes or ugly holiday sweaters. Souvenir T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 participants. All fitness levels are welcome. Day of registration is cash only. Bird Mobile Tour With Santa

Hop on the Bird Mobile for a fun ride around the BVP with Santa as your tour guide. After the tour, make your own bird ornament while enjoying a holiday treat. Ages 6-12.
